Coffee giant Starbucks has over 15,000 locations across the U.S., and they offer benefits to part time baristas. You need to clock 240 hours over a three-consecutive-month-period before you’re eligible (which averages to 20 hours per week), and then maintain at least that many hours each quarter to keep your benefits.
It’s safe to say this is one of the best part time jobs with benefits because there are so many of them – Starbucks offers health insurance, dental, and vision plans. You can also add life insurance, disability, and accident coverage.

3. Trader Joes
Trader Joe’s has a cult-like following and workforce (who doesn’t love Hawaiin shirts?), and that’s in part because of generous benefits for part time work. Benefits at Trader Joe’s include:

- Trader Joe’s contributes 10% of your salary to a retirement plan for eligible crew members

Trader Joe’s is notorious for promoting from within, and during the COVID-19 crisis, they’ve also become known for offering flexible schedules to meet the needs of their employees.
This popular retailer has become well-known in the outdoor community for high-quality gear and benefits for part time workers. Benefits at REI don’t kick in for part time employees until they’ve worked an average of 20 hours per week for a full year.
Once you’re eligible, there is vacation, sick pay, and 8 paid holidays. There is six week paid parental leave for mothers and fathers. REI also pays the majority of their employees medical and dental plans, plus the full cost of basic life insurance.

Part time employees at Lowe’s are eligible for benefits after 31 days, and include limited medical insurance, dental and vision, life insurance, and short-term disability insurance. You can also enroll family members in group medical, dental, and vision coverage.
After 180 days of work, you can start contributing to Lowe’s 401(k) plan, which includes a 100% employee match of the first 3% of eligible compensation. After your first year, you can participate in the employee stock purchase plan.
9. Chipotle Mexican Grill
Over the past few years, this fast-casual restaurant chain has been expanding benefits for part time employees. Chipotle most recently added mental healthcare resources for all of their over 80,000 employees, financial counseling services, and discounts at national gyms.
The year before that, Chipotle added:

There are over 5,000 Walmarts in the U.S. with over 1.5 million employees. Walmart offers healthcare coverage for all eligible associates, including part time workers, and it includes no lifetime maximums and most preventative care covered at 100%. These plans start at $26 per pay period.
Wegmans is a grocery store chain located in the mid-Atlantic and New England. It gives both full and part time employees health coverage that includes a traditional PPO or an HSP. It comes with pre-tax spending accounts and dental coverage.
IKEA considers employees to be full time if they are working at least 20 hours a week, which is pretty different compared to most retail employers. If you’re working more than 20 hours a week, you have access to a competitive medical and prescription plan.
