Part time jobs with benefits have been notoriously hard to come by. With the high cost of health care, this can be really frustrating for anyone who’s working less than 40 hours a week.
However, there are actually companies out there that offer benefits with part time jobs. These aren’t all high paying jobs, but some of these benefits can add serious value. This makes them great options if you’re in college or hoping to work a part time job to earn extra money.

What Companies Offer Benefits for Part-Time Work in 2024?
1. Starbucks
Coffee giant Starbucks has over 15,000 locations across the U.S., and they offer benefits to part time baristas. You need to clock 240 hours over a three-consecutive-month-period before you’re eligible, which averages to 20 hours per week, and then maintain at least that many hours each quarter to keep your benefits.
It’s safe to say this is one of the best part time jobs with benefits because the benefits are really generous – Starbucks offers health insurance, dental, and vision plans. You can also add life insurance, disability, and accident coverage.
They have a competitive 401(k) with a 100% match on the first 4-6% of eligible pay. Bean Stock is Starbucks’ equity reward program.
They also offer paid time off, partner and family sick leave, parental leave, 100% tuition assistance through Arizona State University’s online program, commuter benefits, adoption assistance, and more.
Bonus: you get a free pound of coffee or a box of tea each week. Sweet!
2. Costco
Costco is known for being one of the best places for part time work. It’s made Glassdoor’s list of best places to work, and CEO Craig Jelinek has an 89% approval rating.
Part time employees at Costco are eligible for benefits after 180 days or 600 hours of work, and you’ll also need to work at least 24 hours per week to qualify. Benefits include Costco’s stock purchase plan, a 401(k) match, healthcare coverage, life insurance, dental, and vision insurance.
Part time employees can also take advantage of Costco’s in-house prescription that comes with $5 copays on generic drugs and 5%-15% copays on brand-name medications.
You can add dependents to your health care plan for an additional $30 per pay period.
3. Trader Joes

- 10% off all in-store products
- Trader Joe’s contributes 10% of your salary to a retirement plan for eligible crew members

- Paid time off that increases with how long you’ve worked or the company
Trader Joe’s is notorious for promoting from within, and during the COVID-19 crisis, they’ve also become known for offering flexible schedules to meet the needs of their employees. What to Look For in a Benefits Package
Part time jobs are known for not paying as well as full time jobs, so it’s often the benefits that really add some value to what you’re doing. This makes it important to consider the kind of benefits an employer offers.
Having access to affordable health care is an obvious benefit, and if a company has multi-tiered plans, this means it will be easier for you to find an affordable option. If you’re married or have kids, look at how much it costs to add dependents.
Tuition reimbursement is becoming a major perk for many part time employees because it can lessen your student loan burden. This can offer some serious long-term savings.
Retirement savings packages are another benefit you’ll want to look at in-depth. See what this company says about rolling over your 401(k) and how they handle employee matches.

In all honesty, I was surprised to find so many big companies offering part time jobs with benefits. But when I started thinking about it, I wasn’t as shocked.
To stand out in the job market, employers need to offer competitive packages. It lowers their turnover numbers and keeps employees happy and healthy. Realistically, it pays off to do those things because it saves companies money in the long run.
And if none of the jobs on this list appeal to you, check out my list of Best 2024 Side Hustle Ideas – these side hustles offer flexible ways to make an extra $1,000/month.
This is such a great list! I’m a consultant and always factor in the cost of benefits (i.e., me paying for benefits off the exchange) as part of the profitability. Because I’m in professional services, where you can command higher rates, I still come out ahead. However, with the ACA in jeopardy, I definitely have started thinking about where our household could get benefits if buying as a private individual becomes too difficult — this list is a great idea-generator!
