1. Bookkeeping

Freelance bookkeepers help business owners record and manage daily financial transactions. This can include paying bills, managing payroll, and collecting payments. Bookkeeping is not the same thing as accounting, which means it doesn’t require a degree!

2. Proofreading

If you cringe when someone uses the wrong verb tense or can’t tell the difference between their/there/they’re, then proofreading might be one of the best low cost business ideas for you. Proofreaders are responsible for polishing written content for bloggers, content writers, website owners, academics, business owners, and more.

Proofreading is an in-demand and valuable skill, and it’s an excellent choice if you want something flexible that you can do from home.

3. Run Facebook & Instagram Ads

Normally, DoorDash pays you every week, which is still pretty good. But you can work and get paid daily using Fast Pay. There’s a $1.99 fee to use Fast Pay, but for drivers signed up for the free Dasher Direct debit card, Fast Pay is completely free.

What stands out so much about Uber is that you have a ton of flexibility as you can set your own schedule. There are no minimums, and you can drive when it works for you because the Uber app is available 24/7.

• Extreme flexibility: As we said, you don’t have set hours, rather get to drive on your own schedule.
• Weekly or daily pay: Drivers cash out once a week, but you can also gain immediate access to your earnings with Instant Pay. Terms apply. 
• Driver requirements: You must meet the minimum age to drive in your city, have an eligible mode of transportation, and submit required documents, including a valid driver’s license. You must also consent to a background screening and have at least one year of licensed driving experience.

7. Uber Eats

Are you looking for a flexible side hustle? Delivering with Uber Eats is a great option for anyone who wants to choose their own hours and make money in their spare time. 

Here are the quick facts you need to know about Uber Eats:

• Minimal requirements: Drivers must meet the minimum age to drive in their state, have a driver’s license and insurance policy, and consent to a safety screening.
• Set your schedule: You’re in control of the hours you deliver.
• User-friendly app: The app is available 24/7, and it’s easy to accept orders. It’s also the hub for getting paid.
• Multiple pay options: Drivers who use Uber Eats can get paid weekly or cash out with Instant Pay. There’s a 50 cent fee for each Instant Pay transaction, or you can use Instant Pay up to 5x per day when you sign up for the Uber Visa Debit Card.

8. Instacart

Instacart is a popular on-demand grocery delivery service, and shoppers earn anywhere between $10-$20/hour. Shoppers can pay $0.50 and use Instant Cash Out whenever they want for same day pay.

Instant Cash Out means if you earn $100 a day making deliveries, you can have that $100 instantly deposited in your linked bank account (minus the $0.50 fee). You need to have completed at least five deliveries and have a balance of at least $5 to get paid daily using the Instant Cash Out feature, and Instacart normally pays drivers weekly.

In early 2023, Instacart began rolling out its Scan & Pay feature, helping shoppers avoid long checkout lines so they can save time on orders.

9. Shipt

Shipt was founded in 2014 as an on-demand grocery delivery service, and it now reaches over 260 grocery stores nationwide. Shipt started as a membership-based platform, and while that’s still an option, you no longer need to be a member to order from Shipt. This opens it up to even more customers, meaning more work for Shipt shoppers!

You can expect to make between $10-$20/hour working for Shipt, and they recently launched a same day pay option that you can access once per day. Shipt doesn’t charge for the service, but its payment processor, Stripe, charges a 1% processing fee.

Don’t expect to make a lot of money with any of the following apps. But these apps are a good substitute for scrolling through social media or playing Candy Crush on your phone, especially if you want to make money fast.

10. Branded Surveys

Branded Surveys is an online survey platform that’s used to collect valuable market research data. Companies use the feedback collected in these surveys to develop better products and services and to create more effective marketing campaigns.

You can expect to make $1-$3 per survey, and they pay in points that convert to cash through your PayPal account, bank transfer, or gift cards. You’ll need $5 worth of points before you can cash out.

11. Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie is one of the most reputable survey sites around, and while you won’t make a ton of money taking surveys online, it’s an incredibly easy way to make a little extra cash. What’s nice about Survey Junkie is that you only need to earn $5 in points to cash out, and you can redeem them via PayPal or gift cards.

Most surveys on Survey Junkie pay $1-$3, but you won’t be eligible for every survey you take. So while you could realistically earn that $5 in one day and get paid immediately, it won’t happen all of the time.

There are definitely same-day pay jobs that pay more than surveys, but this is easy, easy money. Think of it like this — you can take surveys while watching Netflix, waiting in the carpool line, on your lunch break, etc.

12. Ibotta

Ibotta is a cash back app that pays you to shop online and in-store using the Ibotta app at over 1,500 brands and retail chains.

There are a few different ways to make money with Ibotta:

• In-store shopping: You add offers in the app, go shopping, and then submit a photo of your receipt to earn cash back.
• Online shopping: Earn cash back on mobile purchases when you visit online retailers through the Ibotta app, and Ibotta keeps track of your earnings.
• Store loyalty programs: You can connect your loyalty account to the Ibotta app to easily earn rewards from stores you regularly shop at — this is one of the fastest and easiest ways!
• Ibotta online browser extension: Download and shop through the Ibotta browser extension.

The average Ibotta user can make about $20/month, and they regularly offer sign-on bonuses for new users.

You need to have $20 in your Ibotta account before requesting a payout, and Ibotta sends you money within 24 hours of requesting payment.

13. MyPoints

MyPoints is a popular survey site that pays you to take online surveys, watch videos, play games, read emails, and you can earn cashback when you shop through their platform. There’s also a MyPoints browser extension you can download and earn 100 points.

The way you get paid by MyPoints is that you earn points for completing any of the above activities. You can start cashing out once you have 700 points in your account. 700 points is equivalent to about $5 via PayPal, and MyPoints says it can take 4-5 days to see the money hit your bank account.

You are more likely to get paid instantly if you choose to cash out with a gift card because they’re delivered electronically through your email.

The jobs in this section are some of the highest-paying options in this entire article. They will take more time to set up and make money from, but they will be your best choice if you are looking for a job that pays good money on a regular basis.

14. Etsy Seller

This is one of the best online jobs for creative people who want to do something a little different online. Etsy is the go-to online marketplace for all things creative, handmade, unique, or vintage.

You can sell everything from handmade furniture to jewelry, but one of the more lucrative niches is digital printables. Think planner pages, invitations, birthday cards, stickers, budget pages, calendars, cards, and more. These are files that people can purchase, download, and print. You’re not holding onto inventory, spending time creating every single item, and you don’t have to ship anything out.

Freelancing is one of the fastest-growing ways to work, and there are now over 59 million freelancers in the U.S.  It’s a very exciting and rewarding business for many people. You get to set your rates, be your own boss, scale your business at your pace, work flexible schedules, earn money from home, and more.

Freelancing has become such a legitimate business, that many people earn $1,000/month or more freelancing on the side of their day jobs.

There are also tons of different freelance services you can offer in 2024, including:

• Freelance writing: Get paid to write articles, blog posts, web copy, emails, ebooks, course content, and more.
• Virtual assistant: This is when you help a business owner complete everyday tasks like answering emails, scheduling, billing, inbox management, social media management, etc.
• Transcription: Transcriptionists turn audio content into text format. Transcriptionists who have a legal or medical background earn more than average.

Since we’re talking about same day pay jobs, many freelancers get paid the day they finish the job. It all depends on the agreement you have with your client, so make sure you have things in writing first.

This section includes gigs that you can stop and start as you please. These aren’t ideas that can easily become full-time jobs, but you can still get paid daily or weekly with these options.

16. Dog Walking & Pet Sitting

This is one of the best jobs that pay daily or weekly if you love pets. But come on, who doesn’t!?

Dog walkers earn $15-$25 per walk — this amount very much depends on where you live, and dog walkers in busy urban areas generally earn on the higher end. Pet sitters can earn $30-$50 per night on average.

Many dog walkers and pet sitters start their business using word of mouth, but you can also try listing your services on Rover. Rover is specifically designed to help pet owners connect with caregivers in their area.

There’s a one-time fee of $35 to create a profile and list your services on Rover, and you’re paid two days after successfully completing a service.

17. Babysitting

Babysitters average about $15 per hour, and you can get paid cash or Venmo the day you work. You’ll obviously need to enjoy spending time with kids, and having your CPR certification is a major plus for parents.

Word of mouth, advertising your services on social media, or creating a profile on a site like Care.com are all great ways to get started.

One of the best jobs that pays daily is to sell stuff you have around your house. For example, say you have a mini-fridge you aren’t using like you thought, list it on Facebook Marketplace, and you may have someone at your house paying cash before the day is over.

This can be a really quick and easy way to make $100 today, especially if you’ve got some clutter to get rid of.

Workout equipment, on-trend clothing, baby gear, and home decor are a few of the best-selling categories. Make sure to accurately describe what you’re selling and post plenty of pictures.

20. Cleaning Houses

One of the freelancers who works for me used to make $50+ an hour cleaning houses! She would get paid daily, and she had several repeat clients she cleaned for every single week.

Cleaning isn’t a fun job, but you can make $25/hour more when you start your own cleaning business. • Trimming bushes

The services above are more like temporary jobs, but offering snow shoveling, gutter cleaning, raking, and planting can keep your business running year around.

• Medical research studies paying up to $1,000

23. Collecting Scrap Metal

Driving around collecting scrap metal, and then selling to a collection or recycling facility is a decent way to make a few hundred in cash a month. It’s definitely not easy work — you’re digging through dumpsters, picking up heavy pieces of metal, and you need to know what you’re looking for.

However, collections sites do pay same-day cash. As I said, you need to know what you’re looking for, so do your research in advance and check out how many different metals are currently selling for.
