If you need fast cash, then you need to find decent jobs that pay the same day. Fortunately, there are more options than you might expect, from delivering food to freelance work.

I took a close look at dozens of different jobs and side hustles to find the best same day pay jobs. You’ll learn what the job is like, how much it pays, and how you can get paid that day.

Best Same Day Pay Jobs in 2024

1. DoorDash

DoorDash is one of the most popular and fastest-growing food delivery services right now. In fact, it holds nearly 65% of the delivery market share, meaning customers overwhelmingly choose to order from DoorDash.

Normally, DoorDash pays you every week, which is still pretty good. But you can work and get paid daily using Fast Pay. There’s a $1.99 fee to use Fast Pay, but for drivers signed up for the free Dasher Direct debit card, Fast Pay is completely free.

I recently talked to a DoorDash driver from Boise, Idaho, and here’s what she shard about her experience:

“When I go out, my goal is to make $50 a day. Typically, this takes me between two and two and a half hours, which is a reasonable goal. On a bad day, it might take three hours, but on a good day, I can finish in less than two hours. If you commit to this little chunk of time every day, you can bring in $1,500 a month.”

To sign up today and start driving for DoorDash, here are the requirements for drivers:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Have access to a car, scooter, or bicycle in some cities
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Auto insurance
  • Social Security number if delivering in the U.S.
  • Complete background check

2. Run Facebook & Instagram Ads

Shortly after I quit my teaching job to run this blog full-time, I tried my hand at running Facebook ads for a local jewelry store. That first client led to another, then another, and pretty soon I was out-earning what I made as a high school band director. The coolest part was that I was only working 2-3 hours a week per client, and it was from home!

Running Facebook and Instagram ads is simply digital marketing through two of the world’s largest social media platforms, which continue to be some of the best platforms for small business owners to reach new customers. It’s a very exciting and rewarding business overall.

There’s no previous marketing or advertising experience required — these are skills you can learn, and you can make around $1,000-$2,000 per client every month! Clients pay you on retainer the same day they sign your contract.

If you’re interested in learning more, I put together a free training that will help you get started. You can check it out here.

3. Bookkeeping

My good friend Kristin is a freelance bookkeeper, and she’s turned her side hustle into a full-time job that allows her to travel the world and make $8k+ a month. When I talked to Kristin, she explained exactly what bookkeepers to: they help business owners record and manage daily financial transactions, including paying bills, managing payroll, and collecting payments.

Bookkeeping is not the same thing as accounting, which means it doesn’t require a degree!

Kristin put together a free training to help you get started. You can check it out here.

4. Proofreading

Ariel, my Head of Operations, actually started out as freelance proofreader. She started her proofreading side hustle while she was finishing her degree, working two part-time jobs, and taking care of her kids. I say this only to show that if you want to find a side hustle that pays daily, you can make it work with any kind of schedule.

Proofreaders help business owners “clean up” their writing before it’s published. It makes their work look more professional, and people pay for this service because it helps them save time.

5. Branded Surveys

I know surveys can get a bad rap, but you can make a few bucks and get paid daily if you earn enough points. One of the most popular sites is Learn More.

You can expect to make $1-$3 per survey, and they pay in points that convert to cash through your PayPal account, bank transfer, or gift cards. You’ll need $5 worth of points before you can cash out.

6. Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie is another one of the most popular and legit online survey sites, and they contact us every few weeks to say they need more people like you to take surveys!

What’s nice about Survey Junkie is that you only need to earn $5 in points to cash out, and you can redeem them via PayPal or gift cards.

Most surveys on Survey Junkie pay $1-$3, but you won’t be eligible for every survey you take. So while you could realistically earn that $5 in one day and get paid immediately, it won’t happen all of the time.

There are definitely same-day pay jobs that pay more than surveys, but this is easy, easy money. Think of it like this — you can take surveys while watching Netflix, waiting in the carpool line, on your lunch break, etc.

11. Instacart

Instacart is a popular on-demand grocery delivery service, and shoppers earn anywhere between $10-$20/hour. Shoppers can pay $0.50 and use Instant Cash Out whenever they want for same day pay.

Instant Cash Out means if you earn $100 a day making deliveries, you can have that $100 instantly deposited in your linked bank account (minus the $0.50 fee). You need to have completed at least five deliveries and have a balance of at least $5 to get paid daily using the Instant Cash Out feature, and Instacart normally pays drivers weekly.

12. Shipt

Shipt was founded in 2014 as an on-demand grocery delivery service, and it now reaches over 260 grocery stores nationwide. This opens it up to even more customers, meaning more work for Shipt shoppers!

You can expect to make between $10-$20/hour working for Shipt, and they recently launched a same day pay option that you can access once per day. Shipt doesn’t charge for the service, but its payment processor, Stripe, charges a 1% processing fee.

13. Etsy Seller

My friend Julie started her Etsy side hustle several years ago, and she now teaches others how to make money with Etsy digital printables. Think planner pages, invitations, birthday cards, stickers, budget pages, calendars, cards, and more.

The fantastic free ebook Seasonal Products Secret will give you inspiration for the types of products that sell best on Etsy throughout the year.

These are files that people can purchase, download, and print. You’re not holding onto inventory, spending time creating every single item, and you don’t have to ship anything out.

14. Freelance Work

Freelancing is one of the fastest-growing ways to work, and there are now over 59 million freelancers in the U.S.  It’s a very exciting and rewarding business for many people. You get to set your rates, be your own boss, scale your business at your pace, work flexible schedules, earn money from home, and more.

Freelancing has become such a legitimate business, that many people earn $1,000/month or more freelancing on the side of their day jobs.

There are also tons of different freelance services you can offer in 2024, including:

  • Freelance writing: Get paid to write articles, blog posts, web copy, emails, ebooks, course content, and more.
  • Virtual assistant: This is when you help a business owner complete everyday tasks like answering emails, scheduling, billing, inbox management, social media management, etc.
  • Transcription: Transcriptionists turn audio content into text format. Transcriptionists who have a legal or medical background earn more than average.

Since we’re talking about same day pay jobs, many freelancers get paid the day they finish the job. It all depends on the agreement you have with your client, so make sure you have things in writing first.

This section includes gigs that you can stop and start as you please. These aren’t ideas that can easily become full-time jobs, but you can still get paid daily or weekly with these options.

15. Dog Walking & Pet Sitting

Whenever I go out of town, I pay a pet sitter to come over and take care of my dog, Emmie, and I’ve talked to my pet sitter about what a good side hustle this is if you love pets.

Dog walkers earn $15-$25 per walk — this amount very much depends on where you live, and dog walkers in busy urban areas generally earn on the higher end. Pet sitters can earn $30-$50 per night on average.

Many dog walkers and pet sitters start their business using word of mouth, but you can also try listing your services on Rover. Rover is specifically designed to help pet owners connect with caregivers in their area.

There’s a one-time fee of $35 to create a profile and list your services on Rover, and you’re paid two days after successfully completing a service.

16. House sitting

House sitting is a great gig! You basically go to someone’s house and hang out while they’re out of town and keep an eye on things. You’ll probably have to water plans, take in mail, and you might need to help with pets.

House sitters make anywhere from $30-$75/day depending on the area and what you’re expected to do. This is a great gig because you can work from the house, still go to and from work, etc.

Word of mouth, advertising your services on social media, or creating a profile on a site like Care.com are all great ways to get started.

House sitters average $25-$50 for every overnight stay.

17. Flip Stuff for Sale

Flipping works well because people are willing to pay good money for things that many people consider junk. This is a great same-day pay job if you’re good at spotting bargains.

My friends Melissa and Rob of Flea Market Flipper are experts, and they’ve made thousands of dollars flipping things like workout gear, home appliances, baby gear, and more.

You can learn more in their Flipper University Course.

18. Sell on Facebook Marketplace

One of the best side hustles that pays daily is to sell stuff you have around your house. For example, say you have a mini-fridge you aren’t using like you thought, list it on Facebook Marketplace, and you may have someone at your house paying cash before the day is over.

This can be a really quick and easy way to make $100 today, especially if you’ve got some clutter to get rid of.

Workout equipment, on-trend clothing, baby gear, and home decor are a few of the best-selling categories. Make sure to accurately describe what you’re selling and post plenty of pictures.

19. Cleaning Houses

One of the freelancers who works for me used to make $50+ an hour cleaning houses! She would get paid daily, and she had several repeat clients she cleaned for every single week.

Cleaning isn’t a fun job, but you can make $25/hour more when you start your own cleaning business. Like the last two jobs, word of mouth is one of the best ways to build your business and use neighborhood apps to get started.

Learn more about House Cleaning Jobs (Where to Find Them & How Much to Charge).

20. Gardening/Lawn Care

People pay good money to have the nicest looking yard on the block, and this can be an exciting and rewarding business if you like being outdoors. To make the most money possible, be prepared to offer services like:

  • Mowing
  • Weeding
  • Edging
  • Trimming bushes

The services above are more like temporary jobs, but offering snow shoveling, gutter cleaning, raking, and planting can keep your business running year around.

We recommend posting your services on NextDoor so people in your neighborhood can quickly get in touch.

21. Craigslist Gigs

Craigslist has gotten a little bit of a bad rap in the past few years, but you can still find legitimate same day pay gigs on Craigslist. Here are a few examples of some jobs we’ve found on Craigslist:

  • Yard clean up paying $16/hour
  • Moving help paying $20-$25/hour
  • Medical research studies paying up to $1,000

22. Collecting Scrap Metal

Driving around collecting scrap metal, and then selling to a collection or recycling facility is a decent way to make a few hundred in cash a month. It’s definitely not easy work — you’re digging through dumpsters, picking up heavy pieces of metal, and you need to know what you’re looking for.

However, collections sites do pay same-day cash. As I said, you need to know what you’re looking for, so do your research in advance and check out how many different metals are currently selling for.

23. Donate Plasma

Yes, this is a real side hustle, and you can make around $100 per donation when you donate plasma at a reputable location.

You will have to be in good health and meet certain requirements to donate, but it’s a decent option if you need to get paid today.

You can check out my article on plasma donation here to learn more.
