Hey everyone! I've got to admit; this is probably one of the most exciting things that has happened for the site so far this summer.
For a while now I've been going back and forth about creating a private Facebook group just for M$M readers. There are a lot of groups out there right now, and even though the engagement on my Facebook page is crazy good, I just wasn't sure if a private group would be something that readers were really that interested in.
Annnnnnnnd I was wrong haha.
Last week, I decided to do a little survey on the M$M Facebook page to see if anyone would be interested. Within a few hours, I had over 1,000 people tell me that they would really like me to create one!
As most of you know, I go really far out of my way to respond to and like every comment that I see on the regular Facebook page. I actually spend an obscene amount of time on this some days because some posts get hundreds of comments, but I've always felt like it was a good way to bond with people that read the site.
The Millennial Money Man Community takes it to another level!
In the first few hours after I created the group, we're already closing in on 1,000 people. I really think we caught lightning in a bottle here.
If you want to learn more about any of the following, you'll love the group:
- Investing
- Side hustles
- Saving
- Student loans
- Consumer debt
- Dogs (we have an awesome dog picture thread going right now haha)
- Taxes
I've been blown away by how nice everyone is to each other, and I'm yet to see a question asked by a group member that didn't have a ton of engagement and great insight from other group members.
Also, you'll have direct access to me when you join the group. I thought I might have to do some “prompting” to get people talking, but everyone dove in and started nerding out about money instantly without me.
I've been able just to get to know people in the group and give my recommendations on different topics as they come up, which is pretty nice!
I feel like I've met a bunch of new friends so far, and it's an even more casual environment than this site (which I wasn't really sure was possible).
If you're interested in joining the group, it's pretty simple.
All you have to do is click here to get to the private group page and request to join. An admin will take a look at the request and approve you, and then you're in!
There is no spamming, self-promotion, or multi-level marketing recruiting allowed in the group. I want a place where M$M readers can go without getting bombarded with sales pitches. Also, general rudeness won't be tolerated. The point is to lift each other up, not tear anyone down. 🙂
See you guys in the group!

LOVE the private group. Even though engaging on your site and through facebook is good, it’s even better to do it in a private community with live minded people. Or at least people who are marching to the same goal.

Yeah I agree – the private group gets the most active readers for sure!

This is one of the best Facebook groups I’ve been a part of. Some incredible people on there and everybody’s super helpful and provides great feedback!

Yeah it’s like surprisingly good haha. I knew I had cool readers but didn’t quite have my finger on how energetic they were about money.

Great idea, and how timely! I just set up a Facebook group myself. I think it’s an awesome way to have more casual chats with people–it’s hard to get good advice just in comment threads sometimes.

Yeah and I think stripping away the blogger identity helps a lot. Leads to more normal conversation.
